Simple Roasted Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts (3 Ingredients)
Are you looking for an easy side dish that’s full of flavor? Then you won’t want to pass up these air fryer brussels sprouts. So crispy and salty, they make a perfect side dish for almost anything, including my Salmon One Pan Meal with Broccoli and Smashed Potatoes.

For a long time, I didn’t really like Brussels sprouts. Then one day I tried some fried Brussels sprouts and I was hooked! Admittedly, those weren’t the most healthy version, especially since they had bacon in them, but they were a good introduction to what look like little heads of cabbage. While this recipe does not call for frying the sprouts, you can still get crispy parts when you flake off some of the leaves. And believe me when I say these crispy leaves are so, so good! They are so crispy and salty, they’re my favorite part. I could eat a plate of just crispy, salty leaves.
Is it Brussels Sprouts or Brussel Sprouts?
Having been named after the city in Belgium, the little green sprouts we have come to know and love are correctly called Brussels sprouts, not brussel sprouts. The B is always capitalized as it is a proper noun.
Why I love this recipe
How does it taste? So delicious and crispy and salty. You won’t be able to get enough!
How does it smell? They have a light, fresh smell when they are raw. When cooking, the scent is very light, though the olive oil gives off a nice, buttery smell.
Is it easy to make? These sprouts are very simple to make. A perfect, simple side dish when you don’t have much time.
Would I make it again? Definitely! Given how much of an easy recipe this is, it’ll probably be my new go-to side dish.
Ingredients

- Brussels sprouts I used fresh Brussels sprouts. You can use frozen but you will need to cook them for a bit longer.
- Olive oil Since the olive oil provides flavor for the sprouts, get the best olive oil you can afford.
- Salt I used regular table salt, but you can use sea salt or Himalayan salt if you’d like.
And that’s it! Just three ingredients for these super simple roasted Brussels sprouts. The perfect side dish for so many things, and such a simple preparation. You’ll have dinner ready in no time!
Additional Variations
- Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts You can press 1-2 garlic cloves and add them into the Brussels sprouts for an extra bit of garlic flavor.
- Parmesan Roasted Brussels Sprouts Add some shredded parmesan cheese, a little garlic powder and some lemon zest to the Brussels sprouts right after they are done roasting.
- Sweet and Spicy Roasted Brussels Sprouts Once the sprouts are done roasting, drizzle some maple syrup over them and sprinkle on some red pepper flakes.
How to Make Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
Step One Line one of the trays in the air fryer with tinfoil. Do not leave in the air fryer while preheating. I wait to preheat the air fryer until right before I want to add my food as the air fryer only takes about 3-5 minutes to heat up.
*For this recipe, I use the French door style air fryer oven. If you have the basket type air fryer, you will have to decrease your cooking time by a few minutes. You’ll want to check on the sprouts after 10 minutes to see if they are fully cooked.
Step Two Rinse the sprouts. Slice the ends off, then slice the sprouts in half. Add the cut sprouts to a medium mixing bowl. Add the olive oil and salt to the sprouts. Mix until the sprouts are evenly coated.

Step Three Preheat the air fryer to 400 F. High heat helps the sprouts get nice and crispy. Add the sprouts to the lined baking sheet and add to the middle rack of the air fryer. If you put them too close to the cooking element, they may become overcooked.

Step Four Bake for 15 minutes. The Brussels sprouts should be golden brown and crisp with crispy leaves that are so delicious and salty. Mmm! Definitely my new favorite way to cook Brussels sprouts.

Look how crispy and yummy they are! The loose leaves are so crispy and salty and crunchy!

Frequently Asked Questions
Cooked Brussels sprouts can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
I do not recommend freezing cooked Brussels sprouts. They will be too mushy upon reheating.
Other than the obvious difference of looks between the two, there isn’t much difference. They both cook by moving hot air around the food. The air fryer oven cooks food a bit slower than the basket air fryer.
