Pie Crusts Apples Brown and White Sugar Flour Cinnamon Cloves Ginger Vanilla Extract Egg Wash Coarse Sugar
Peel and slice apples. Roll out the pie crust 12 inches round and 1/8 inch thick. In a large bowl, add the apples, brown and white sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
Add the apple mixture to a large pot on the stove over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring intermittently. Add the cooked mixture to the prepared pie plate.
Roll out the second pie crust, this will be your top crust. You can make a lattice topping, or just a plain topping with a few slits on the top.
Brush the egg wash all over the pie. Sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake at 425 F for 15 minutes, then lower to 375 F and bake for 50-60 minutes. The crust should be golden brown and the filling bubbling.
